Most custom pool projects in the DFW area take 8 to 12 weeks from groundbreaking to your first swim. Add another 2-4 weeks for design and permits, and you’re looking at about 3-4 months total from consultation to cannonball.
The 7 Phases of Pool Construction
Week 1-2: Design & Permits
We create your custom design, handle all permit paperwork, and get city approvals. Pro tip: Start planning in January-February for summer swimming!
Week 3-4: Excavation & Steel
Heavy equipment digs your pool, we install plumbing and rebar reinforcement. This is when your backyard really transforms!
Week 5-6: Gunite & Curing
We spray the concrete shell (1 day), then it needs 7-10 days to cure properly. As a third-generation family business, we never rush this critical step.
Week 7-8: Tile & Coping
Our specialized tile setters install your waterline tile and coping. Our craftsmen work exclusively in their trades – it makes all the difference!
Week 9-10: Decking & Equipment
Pool deck gets poured, pumps and filters are installed, and we integrate landscaping.
Week 11: Interior Finish
Your chosen plaster or pebble finish goes in, pool gets cleaned, and we fill it with water.
Week 12: Startup & Training
We balance the water chemistry, test all equipment, and teach you everything about your new pool!

North Texas weather can be unpredictable! Heavy rain, extreme heat, or freezing temperatures can delay certain phases of construction. That’s why:
- Best Time to Start: March through October typically offers the most consistent construction weather
- Winter Considerations: Cold weather can extend curing times and limit certain work
Pool Complexity & Size
- Standard Pool: 8-10 weeks for a traditional rectangular or freeform pool
- Custom Features: Adding waterfalls, grottos, spas, or unique shapes can add 2-4 weeks
- Large Pools: Pools over 600 square feet typically need additional time
Permitting & HOA Approvals
- City Permits: Dallas, Plano, and Frisco each have different processing times (1-3 weeks)
- HOA Requirements: Some neighborhoods require architectural review (can add 2-4 weeks)
